Chris Cote is a guitarist, bassist and singer from Massachusetts who has worked in a wide variety of musical formats from Jazz to Rock and World influenced groups. He has been studying guitar for some 30 years.
His goal as a teacher is to use a considered approach to help eliminate the many problems students face as beginners, and give them proven tools to achieve their creative potential.
Chris attended Berklee College of Music where he studied Professional Music including such disciplines as music theory, voice, recording, ensembles, composition and film scoring. After this period he began working with a variety of groups in the Boston area, including, Seks Bomba, Boston Baked Blues and others.
Chris also plays bass guitar in the popular group Upper Crust who have toured the US and Europe several times and released 4 CD’s to national acclaim. The group is featured on the popular game Guitar Hero I and has had music used in various films from Paramount and other studios.
He does frequent studio vocal work as both a singer and voice over artist. His singing can be heard in the John Sayles Movie “Sunshine State” and on the soundtrack album released by Daring/Rounder, as well as commercial productions in Europe and the US.
He has performed and recorded 2 CD’s with Finland’s Janne Haavisto and the Farangs as well as the duo project Solo Adultos which features his co-compositions and was voted one of the critics’ top 20 albums of the year by Finland’s premier music publication.
His groups have been featured in publications like The New Yorker, The New York Times, Spin and The Boston Globe, and have appeared on MTV and the Comedy Central television channels.
He is currently a member of the local group “The Giant Kings” which includes some of the most respected musicians in the New England area including the guitarist Duke Levine.
Chris has performed with “Club D’Elf” and the grammy nominated “Either/Orchestra.”
